Launch of two new 6,500BHP ocean-going/multi-purpose tugs “MAI PO” and “SUNG KONG” in Q2 2019

HUD Group's Salvage & Towage division is delighted to announce the two new 6,500 BHP newbuilding tugs “MAI PO” and “SUNG KONG” will enter into service in Q2 2019.

These two versatile tugs are the most powerful tugs in Hong Kong designed for berthing large ocean-going vessels, ocean towing, fire-fighting and escort operations.  They have been classed by Lloyd's Register and in compliance with the latest rules and standards for the classification of ship.  They have an overall length of 32m, a maximum bollard pull of 88.2 tonnes and a maximum service speed of 13.64 knots.  Both tugs are equipped with render recovery winch, LNG gas detection system and explosion-proof lightings to support operations in tough conditions.  With the enhanced propulsion power, fire-fighting capability and the highest environmental management standard in practice, we commit to deliver the first class service to boost maritime safety and efficiency of Hong Kong Port and its adjacent waters.
